Support at Home –
In-Home Aged Care

At Best of Homecare (BHC), we know most older people want to stay in their own home and community for as long as possible. The Support at Home program is the Australian Government’s new in-home aged care system, designed to help you do exactly that – with coordinated services, funding and safeguards so you can live safely and independently at home for longer.

Aged Care

What Is Support at Home program?

Support at Home is a government-funded program that provides aged care services to older Australians in their own homes. It replaced Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care on 1 November 2025

Under Support at Home:

  • You are assessed through My Aged Care

  • You are given a funding classification based on your care needs

  • You choose an approved provider, like BHC, and enter into a service agreement

  • Together, we plan and deliver services that match your goals, preferences and budget.

If you’re currently receiving a Home Care Package, your funding has been transitioned across to Support at Home so you are no worse off, with an equivalent “transitioned HCP” level.

Funding Classifications & Budgets

Under Support at Home, each participant is allocated one of 8 funding classifications for ongoing services. These are set after your aged care assessment and provide an annual budget (indexed each July) that you can use with your chosen provider

There are 8 ongoing funding levels, with annual budgets currently ranging from around $10,700 to about $78,000 per year, including an amount set aside for care management.

Budgets are allocated quarterly, and you can carry over a limited amount of unspent funds into the next quarter.

If your needs change, you can request a reassessment, which may result in a higher classification and budget
